Maria Menounos
Maria was helping her mother who had stage four brain cancer. Maria was able to recognize that she had the middle of a health crisis. In February 2014 Menounos started experiencing troubling symptoms. She tells PEOPLE that she was experiencing headaches, lightheadedness and nausea since February 2014. My speech became slow and was also having trouble getting the teleprompter to understand. Menounos was diagnosed with a meningioma-size brain tumor. An MRI confirmed this. Menounos scheduled an appointment with her mother's doctor the renowned surgeon Dr. Keith L. Black, and they scheduled surgery for June 8th, her 39th birthday. The doctor told her that, "I am 98 percent positive that the tumor is not malignant, however, we won't know until we get into there," The complex operation took about seven hours and Dr. Black was capable of eliminating 99.9% of the benign tumor. According to her, Dr. Black said it was likely to have the tumor be resurrected in between 6 and 7 percent of the cases. "But I'll take the odds anytime." Menounos has been admitted to the hospital for six days, is currently at home, and spending recuperating.
